Our Program

Palm Digital as an offshoot of the Palm STEAM Academy, offers enrichment classes and clubs dedicated to giving students at Palm Middle School an opportunity to create original websites, mobile apps, games, and digital art.

When students create their own content through digital art and computer programming, they develop thinking skills and perseverance. They experience what Seymour Papert, the inventor of the Logo programming language, has termed "hard fun"; that is, the mastery of what doesn't come easily, acquiring habits of self-discipline in the process.

Our Instructors

David Coopersmith: Game/App Development
Teaches Android programming with Android Studio (the tool of choice for Android professionals around the world) and Java programming with Java Greenfoot, TKPJava, and the Eclipse IDE. He also teaches Scratch and the Unity 3D Game Engine.

Gayle DiCarlantonio: Web Development
Teaches web design and programming with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

TBD: Digital Art
Teaches artistic design using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
